St. Thomas, Kristansand, Oslo; the Northern Lights; and the eastbound crossing of the mighty and stormy North Atlantic are vividly remembered. So too is the HMS Ark Royal and our sister ships. The friendships gained, and the relationships with the Officers and the Crew of the USS Corry have helped me throughout my life. Greetings and kudos to Commander Robert E. Clark, Skipper. I will never forget on September 17, 1972 being in my skivies, snowflakes the size of dimes hitting my face, and watching as the Bullnose was painted blue. Nor will I forget sailing home through the English Channel; and, enjoying channel fever as we returned to our home port of Norfolk, VA in the dawn's early light on waters of glass. I say "Thank you" to all who served our country on this ship. Charles J. "Chuck" Norton

I didn't serve on the Corry, but I was named after her. My father, Jim Fiddler served on her '68 to '69. I looked for his name in the list of crew but it wasn't there is there any way you could add him to the list? He was an Machinist Mate and he was very proud of the time he spent aboard. So proud that he named his son after his beloved ship.

I am a pro bono lawyer representing Martin D. Allen, who was a seaman aboard USS CORRY in waters off Viet Nam in 1972-73. He is suffering from PTSD and needs help from former shipmates to substantiate the date of an incident he says occurred in 1972/73. A sailor lost some fingers while loading a gun (problably in the forward turrent where ALlen was a pointer). Also the U.S. Armed Services Center for Research of Unit Records denies that CORRY was ever in combat--ALlen maintains that Corry provided naval gunfire support for U.S. troops ashore during the same period. Any help you can give me would be appreciated on behalf of a former shipmate who is now very ill. Thomas J. Reed Prof of Law (USMC 1962-1966)

My father, William Edward Corry Sr., served in the Navy at the end of WWII. He had many stories to tell, photos to show, and memorabillia collected from his 4 years of duty, but never mentioned there was a ship in the Navy with our namesake. There is a hardback book that my father had given me, entitled "William Corry and his decendants" by Mildred Ezell which is quite extensive in research and content, but there's no reference to William Merrill Corry in it. Growing up in Texas, the same state where the 1st ship was christened, my birthdate (6-03-1959) being the same date William Merrill Corry graduated from the Naval Academy (6-03-1910), and having the exact spelling with two r's in the last name suggests a relationship here somewhere. Anyone interestd in information on the "William Corry and his Decendants" book, or how to get a copy, I can probably point you in the right direction, if you send me an e-mail. Great website! Thanks for taking the time. God Bless America.

Just stumbled across the website. I was aboard the Corry from 78 to 80 (ET2). I saw the note about the reunion. Look forward to being there. I also have 2 pics if anyone is interested. One is an aerial view of the Corry(navy photo) and the other is of an ASROC test launch while I was aboard (great pic) I will be happy to forward the pics to anyone interested.
