Boy does this picture bring back memories.(the
picture of the Fan Tail on the old web site).. After being cooped up
for several days because of rough weather, I decided to take a book and a folding
chair and sit outside to read in front of the aft gun mount. While some sea
spray occasionally washed across the fantail, there didn't seem to be anything
to worry about as I relaxed and read in the sunshine. Then without warning a
wave came over the top of the gun mount, hit me like a ton of bricks, and washed
me into the safety netting. It all happened so fast I never even knew what hit
me. The folding chair was broken and I was soaked, but somehow, the book was
dry.

other srikker nammed R.C Nagasawa.
I'm looking for anyone who served on board during that time frame.

I just happened upon your website. My Dad Walter J. Peters II served on the
USS Corry in 1950. My father's service in the Navy and on the USS Corry meant
alot to my father and makes my very proud of him.My sisters's daughter Corry
is named in memory of my Dad. (he tried hard to get my Mom to name one of us
Corry). My Dad passed away on March 7, 1999 and was buried (transferred) to
the new Saratoga Veterans Cemetery on 8-17 1999. My Dad would have really enjoyed
this site. Nice job.

Hello, my father served on board the USS CORRY from January 1955-December 1958.
He served as the barber and store clerk most of his time on board. He does not
have a computer so I will pass along any info or correspondence from anyone
that served with him during this time. My father is Robert Earl Hoyle known
to most of us as Bobby. He is from Morganton, N.C. and now resides in Nebo,
N.C. My interest in my father's navy years has opened a door of discussion for
us that I hope will be very informative and will be good for him also. He would
love to hear from some of his shipmates and well as I would be interested in
any stories that his shipmates may be willing to share. Please correspond with
me at ([email protected]) and I will pass all info along to him. Give us a few
days to respond back to you. Thank you for your time and God Bless all enlisted
men --past, present and future. Thank you for my FREEDOM. I salute each of you.

hi everyone, I served on the Corry from Dec. 1965 to June 1966. I was ordered
to the Corry after Basic at great lakes as a radioman striker. I later became
a RM2 after school at Meridian NAAS. After a 2 year hitch there I was ordered
to the USS Wright (CC-2) in Norfolk. I evently retired in the army reserves (912th
M.A.S.H.) I sure have some fond memories of the Corry, especially of the guys
in the Comm shack. If any of you guys read this, hows about getting in touch
with me. Especially my very dear freind Ronald Pytlak(RM3), and Terry Moncure
(RM3). Wishing everyone peace and happiness.
May God Bless

Wanted everyone to know the sad news that Leonard and Mary Golda
who have been to several of our reunions including the one in Roanoke last
year, lost their 41 year old son in a automobile accident recently. I know
that thoughts, prayers and cards would be appreciated from Corry members
at this sad time. We have sent one from the membership as a whole already.

DECEASED SHIPMATE: It is my sad duty to report the passing of shipmate
Charles Wilson on May 19, 2003. Charles was aboard the Corry 1948-52 and
was an EM3. He and his wife Betty attended the last 2 Corry Reunions and
they were looking forward to the Seekonk, MA Reunion. We extend our prayers
and sympathy to his family. In an email from Betty, she related how proud
Charles was to have served on the Corry and to be an American.
